Witchy Wednesdays - Oregano
Oregano is a member of the mint family and a well known culinary herb. It flowers in either pink or lavender and has a very aromatic and bitter taste. Usually it grows around 9 inches in height. If worn on the head whilst sleeping it said to promote psychic dreaming. Wreaths of oregano may be used to crown the heads of hand-fasting couples to ensure their happiness. You can create a natural antihistamine by mixing it with equal parts oregano, tarragon, basil, chamomile and fennel and creating a tea. Drinking this daily and with a meal should alleviate symptoms. Oregano added to an herbal bath will relax sore muscles. Ancient Greeks believed that oregano was a useful poison antidote and used it in poultices to treat skin irritations and infections. If oregano grew on a grave, it was an indication that the departed was happy in the afterlife. Growing oregano near your home is supposed to protect it from evil forces. It has also been carried as a charm for the same purpose.
