Witchy Wednesday - Lemon Lemons are an iconic looking yellow fruit which grow on lemon trees, a type of evergreen tree with oval dark green leaves and are native to Asia. Lemons are ripe and ready to use when they are bright yellow and firm. They are used often in beverages such as lemonade, tea, and lemon water and used in many sweet sodas and cocktails. As well as being used in sweet treats, sweets or candy and cakes. We even use the juice to flavour savoury items such as fish and pancakes. Served as a tea with a bit of honey it is a traditional remedy for all manner of colds, fevers or sore throats. Adding the juice of one lemon to around 200 ml of water and drinking twice daily makes a great digestive cleanser, which also supports the immune system. Lemon juice is a great rinse for hair and will gradually lighten hair if used regularly. The leaves of the lemon tree are used to make a tea. Magickally Lemons resonate with the energy of the moon and so Lemons can be used to celebrate lunar deities.Lemon flowers are used in love spells and the rind can be added to baked goods prepared with loving intent. It is said that a slice of lemon placed beneath a visitor’s chair will ensure the friendship will last. Use an infusion of lemon to induce lust. Finally it is used in Cleansing and Clearing Spells to separate a person from ties to the past.
