Freyja's Fridays - Cleanliness Vikings were actually a pretty clean people for this period of history, both the males and females in Viking society were actually accustomed to daily hygiene. This doesn't mean they bathed every single day, but they did take care of their skin and hair and of course beards! Actually Saturday or Lorday was Norse Bath Day. What we also know from the excavation of Viking burial mounds is that personal grooming tools are some of the most common items found. Items such as razors, tweezers and ear spoons have been found. In fact combs seem to be the most common artifact found from the Viking Age. We also know that the Vikings made a very strong soap which was used not only for bathing, but also for bleaching their hair. Vikings bleached their hair as it seems blond hair was highly valued in the Viking World.
