Witchy Wednesday - Joe Pye Weed Otherwise known as Eutrochium this is a perennial plant native mainly to America and parts of Europe, it has purple flowers with a sweet vanilla scent and hollow lance shaped leaves dark green in colour and usually grow in clusters of 5 to 7. Folklore says that Joe Pye (Indian Healer) used this plant to cure fevers. Folklore also states that American colonists used this plant to treat typhus outbreaks Joe Pye Weed was used by many Native American tribes for healing and magic. It was used as a diuretic, to treat colds and fevers, as a love medicine, as a poultice for wounds and for joint pain and the flowers were used as good luck charms. A leaf can be tucked into your cheek to ensure that words spoken to the opposite sex will be well-received. A diuretic tea can be made by Simmering 1 once dried root in 1 pint water for 30 minutes, strain and cool, take 1/2 cup 4-5 times per day or by Pouring 1 cup boiling water over 1 tsp leaves and flowers. Steep for 10 minutes, strain and drink 1-3 times per day. Certain seers would also bathe in it to see their futures but it could not however show them their deaths. #Witch #Magick #Weed
