Witchy Wednesdays - Geranium (Pelargonium) Pelagonium is a variety of plant which over 200 species, originally native to Africa but have become popular in Europe. They have alternating often varied leaves with either a star or funnel shaped flower head, The petals often in a two up three down formation. The word Pelargonium comes from the Greek pelargos meaning stork as its appearance often resembles a stork. To make your own herbal household cleaners, layer scented geranium leaves with baking soda, let it soak it up for a couple of months and sift for an all-natural carpet fresh or a scouring powder. You could also steep scented geranium leaves in wine o make into a tea as long as you get rid of the leaves before ingesting. In herbal medicine, Pelargonium has been used for intestinal problems, wounds and respiratory ailments, but Pelargonium species have also been used for fevers, kidney complaints and other conditions. Pelargoniums can be used in any spells related to happiness, prosperity and fertility, especially talismans and sympathetic magic.They can also be used to aid in dream work and astral travel. A tea of Wild Geranium flowers is an effective counter to many love spells. A bit of the root can be carried as an amulet to attract happiness and prosperity.
